About our team
The Biking Bulldogs are the newest Michigan Scholastic Cycling Association (MISCA) mountain bike team open to K-12 Chelsea area schools and home school athletes. The Bulldogs aim to empower youth by cultivating a love for adventure and an active lifestyle, instilling confidence by promoting healthy competition, teaching mechanical skills, and building an inclusive community and lifelong friendships!

Chelsea Biking Bulldogs is open to athletes Grades K-12
The Michigan Scholastic Cycling Association (MiSCA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that empowers communities to develop and grow K-12 youth mountain biking programs across the state.
- Structure and guidance for clubs to form and grow
- Mountain bike race series for K-12 student athletes
- Skills camps and clinics
- Certification programs and training for coaches
- Safe biking and Safe Kids principles
- Girls only events (BRAVE)
- Scholarship opportunities
- A Mountain Bike (not bmx)
- A Safety-Certified Helmet
- Hydration
- Closed-toed shoes (athletic shoes are fine!)

- MiSCA Annual Registration is $75 per rider, required for insurance (New Rider Discount $25 off annual fee)
- Race Registration is $30-$80 per race depending on age group with discounted registration for all 6 races
- Races are NOT mandatory!
- Team Specific Fee for team operating costs will probably be around $50, we're still working on this one : )
- 6 Race series starting in late August
- Held on Saturday AND Sunday with Grades 5 and under on Saturday and 6-12 on Sunday
- Categories: High School (9-12) Middle School (6-8) Elementary (K-5)
- Subcategories for all ability levels
- Races are not mandatory!

- WE NEED COACHES TO MAKE THIS WORK! 😬
- 2 Coaches are required to be at all practices (SafeKids)
- At least 1 Level 2 Coach is required to be at all practices and team rides
- Required coach to rider ratio is 1:6
- You must be at least a Level 1 Coach if you want to ride with your athlete
- MiSCA makes it super easy! To become a Level 1 Coach all that is required is a background check and a quick online course!
- Practices twice a week (depending on coach availability)
- Tentatively Tuesday/Sunday afternoons
- TBD, but including DTE, Manchester, Your Back Yard! 😬🤣
- Skills Training on Tuesday and Conditioning Rides on Sunday
